Great eCommerce profitability ahead

As 2009 has finally been passed on to history books as the year of one of the worst recessions in modern history, Avail is fortunate enough to sum up another good year of growth.

Again we doubled our customer base as retailers continued moving focus away from merely driving expensive visitor traffic to their sites, to making sure only relevant traffic was acquired and that those visitors converted as effectively as possible (a task at which Behavioral Merchandising excels).

From a consumer perspective, 2009 was a year when even more people started shopping online for the first time as many of them went bargain hunting online.

In summary this meant that, despite the recession, many online retailers saw stable or even improving conversion rates in 2009, while average order values where stagnant as shoppers opted for cheaper products.

As the consumer confidence picks up in 2010, recovery in average order values will combine with the sustainable improvements to conversion rates made in 2009 to create the foundation for a year of great eCommerce profitability growth.
