Strong international sales boost revenues at Asos


Asos posted a rise of 31% in sales during the first quarter, boosted by a strong performance in Australia and the US. In the three months to 30th June the online fashion retailer reports sales rose to £137m. International now accounts for 65% of sales at Asos, with overseas sales soaring 49% during period.  EU sales were up 27% in the first quarter and revenue from the rest of the world surged 61%. However, UK sales grew just 8% in the period.

Asos Chief Executive, Nick Robertson, said: "I am pleased to report that trading for the three months to end June 2012 has been strong with retail sales up 31% to £137m.
 
"Our UK performance was particularly encouraging given the current climate at +8%. Our International business grew by +49% driven by a strong performance in the US, +83% and our rest of world category (predominately Australia) at +61%.  International sales now represent 65% of the total up from 57% last year.
 
"We remain positive in our outlook, and continue to trade in line with expectations."
