IMRG presents The Growth of E-commerce, a partnership with ITN Productions Industry News

LAUNCHING SEPTEMBER 2020

IMRG and ITN Productions Industry News are co-producing an online news-style programme The Growth of Ecommerce providing insight into the online retail market and helping retailers accelerate their online performance.

Ecommerce has exploded over the last decade, reaching £137.38 billion in 2018 (according to ONS data). The Growth of Ecommerce will explore this changing and competitive landscape.  The programme will address the considerations dominating the industry including the cost of delivery, environmental impact, the changing role of the store, the ongoing issue of returns, the changing discount periods and the importance of data and analytics to drive insight, all considered in the shadow of the deep impacts of the Coronavirus on retail.

Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, retailers are taking a hard look at their entire operations and all the technology that powers it. This programme will highlight the vital role of e-commerce in our newfound world. It will explore how retailers are adapting and thriving to the new normal, and will show how suppliers are helping customers to understand and respond to new consumer behaviour.

Anchored by an ITN newsreader, the programme will look at the future of online retail and the latest advancements in technology that are changing the face of the industry.  The programme will also highlight how IMRG supports the industry by providing data, insights and best practice for its members and how IMRG is keeping retailers ahead of the curve in what is still a relatively new sector.

The Growth of Ecommerce will launch digitally alongside the eCommerce Expo and form part of an extensive distribution campaign by ITN and IMRG, including a targeted social media campaign to retailers, suppliers and professional partners, press as well as journalists and bloggers.

Justin Opie, Managing Director of IMRG said: “eCommerce has been the engine of retail growth for much of the past decade. Is this now under threat? We believe this is just the beginning, as Coronavirus looks set to be shaping new shopping behaviours which could massively accelerate the shift online. We are excited to partner with ITN, and key contributors, to explore how ecommerce will help retailers to thrive in the coming decade.”

Elizabeth Fisher-Robins, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions said: “We are delighted for the opportunity to partner with IMRG to raise greater awareness and understanding of the ecommerce industry and to provide a platform to better equip retailers for online success. It’s a challenging time for retail at the moment, but we’re excited to uncover  how the ecommerce sector is leading the way in this new world.”
